WBASA – MARCH 20th  2025 CLASSIC BOAT DAY

A reminder of our March Classic Boat Day based at the Woodlane Reserve, Mypolonga.

If you are joining us please register with this month’s Event Manager, Stephen Conway by email editor@wbasa.au, or phone 0401 125 035

The March Classic Boat Day is on Thursday the 20th and will be mainly for trailerable boats, however larger boats are also welcome.

The plan is to be at the Woodlane Reserve Boat Ramp, Mypolonga  at around 10.00am for launching and then be under way at around 10.45am and head downstream. Woodlane is a good ramp and an excellent reserve with decent facilities for picnics etc.

This is a particularly good event for those who don’t have access to a boat and who would like to travel with somebody else, or just join us for lunch and sit in the picnic shelter and watch the river go by.

Once under way (or is it weigh?) we will slowly cruise from the Reserve to the Paiwalla Wetlands perhaps for an in-boat morning tea, doing a bit of bird watching and just enjoying the serenity.

This is a part of the river that many members have travelled in both directions. Some may not have not known the history of the Wetlands or their significance to the health of the River and the native species that inhabit them. There will be an information handout on the Wetlands available on the day for those interested.

After our serenity fix it will be back to Woodlane for a picnic lunch and a possible run up to Wall Flat to locate an old Boiler (not a euphemism) located on the eastern river bank.

Stephen is the event manager for the day, his contact details are above and below..

If you are going to participate please contact him asap to let him know  in case we have any change to the event. Stephen will keep an eye on the weather forecast and keep those people who have registered  an interest to attend informed of any changes to the program the day prior.

Please bring along all your catering needs as there is no shop at the Reserve.

Be mindful of new life jacket / PDF requirements now enforced by Marine Safety.

A two way radio is very helpful at these events, the WBASA preferred UHF channel is 27.

These Classic Boat Days are a great way to get your boat wet, enjoy the company of like minded boaties and chill out. Make sure you note the dates in your WBASA calendar and get along. They also a great way to test your boat out, get some advice about anything you need and of course check out the other boats. Support to launch and retrieve your boat, getting a tow if needed (yes, boats do breakdown) and best of all the opportunity to get your boat’s photo in the WBASA calendar are all good reasons to join in!

PLEASE REMEMBER TO REGISTER YOUR INTENTION TO JOIN US BY CONTACTING THE EVENT MANAGER
